First United Methodist Church-Commerce is dedicated to having Open Hearts, Open Minds, and Open Doors. In addition to its doors being open to all people seeking Jesus Christ, the facility itself is available to those wishing to have a Christian setting for their special event or activity.
The facilities are available for church members and non-members. Those wishing to use our facilities should contact the church office at (903) 886-3220, Monday through Thursday between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm. The church Office Administrator can provide information about facility availability.
All areas of the church are air-conditioned and handicapped accessible. Please note that this is an alcohol and drug-free campus.
Funeral
A funeral, memorial service, or celebration of life (depending on your term preference) following the death of a loved one does at least two things: 1.) It enables us to face the reality of our mortality and 2.) comforts us in the celebration of another reality – life after death in God. As one of our creeds declares, “In life, in death, in life beyond death, we are not alone. Thanks be to God!”
As you and your family begin the path of planning a funeral, we offer you our full support and experience to help make this difficult process simpler. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones as you move through your journey of grief.

We have multiple facilities to accommodate your special day. Our Sanctuary will seat approximately 450 people, while our Chapel will seat 40-50 people comfortably. The Family Ministry Center serves as a reception site and will accommodate up to 250 guests. Alcoholic beverages and the use of tobacco products are not permitted on the church property.
